When Mark R. Brown founded his company, comprehensive financial planning and private family wealth management were in the beginning stages. The industry itself was still forming when Mark had an idea: for clients to pursue and actualize long-term financial independence, he had to deliver a new service and that service was to merge a traditional business plan with a personal financial plan. Because of the invention of the personal computer, it was now possible to create sophisticated plans for families in an understandable and flexible manner. Mark R. Brown is the Managing Partner of this financial planning-based wealth management firm that offers independent investment management advice and financial services in a family office environment. Since 1983, Mr. Brown has provided strategic financial guidance to help manage the wealth of professionals, executives, business owners and their families, throughout the United States. Mark is a 35-year veteran of the field.
RYAN CSRNKO, CFP®
CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGER
Ryan joined the team in June 2017 as a Client Relationship Manager. He began his career as a wealth manager with a firm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While there he oversaw the financial planning process, investment analysis & recommendations, and overall client experience.
Ryan graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Finance, specializing in Financial Planning and a minor in Economics.
Growing up in a military family proved to be an intangible experience, living among various cultures abroad and throughout the United States. He now calls Colorado home and enjoys skiing, golfing, and traveling.
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS & COMPLIANCE
Erin joined Brown and Company, Inc. in February 2017 as the Director of Operations and Compliance. She is responsible for the overall management of the office and overseeing the increasing complex compliance duties. Erin focuses on the day to day office operations and maintaining compliance guidelines and records.
She holds her Series 7 and 24 registrations and also has her Insurance license issued by the Colorado Department of Insurance.
Erin and her husband, Cole, reside in Thornton with their two girls, Alexa and Riley. They enjoy spending time together as a family; traveling and enjoying the outdoors.
JUSTIN CASSIDA, MBA, CFP®,
DIRECTOR OF CLIENT SERVICE
Justin Cassida joined Brown and Company, Inc. in May 2007 as a Client Relationship Manager and in 2013 was promoted to Director of Client Service. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a Financial Advisor in Dallas, TX. An accomplished professional, he obtained concurrent degrees in Business Administration and Financial Planning, with a minor in Architecture from Texas Tech University (magna cum laude). He then obtained an MBA and a M.S. in Personal Financial Planning, also from Texas Tech, notable because it is one of few programs in the country to offer a master’s degree in Financial Planning.
Justin and his wife, Sarah, reside in Denver with their three children, Grace, Evan and Benjamin. An avid skier, outdoorsman and father, Justin enjoys family first, the outdoors second and football third.
Carla joined the Brown & Company team in September 2017 as staff accountant and is responsible for budgeting, cash flow analysis, forecasting, expense tracking, financial reporting and bookkeeping. Having worked in the sports industry, data analytics/business intelligence, and manufacturing sectors, she brings over 20 years of experience as an Accountant and Director of Business Operations. After earning both her Bachelor and Law Degrees from University of Denver, she helped her husband Bill start various sports ventures including the Colorado Eagles hockey team, which makes its home at the Budweiser Event Center in Fort Collins.
Carla and Bill call Colorado home, where they raised their 3 now-adult children. Carla loves spending time with family, crafting, and enjoying the great Colorado outdoors.
MARTIN WALSH, MBA, CFP®,
DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Martin joined Brown and Company, Inc. in 2015 to help lead business development and client acquisition efforts. He is also actively involved with investment research and due diligence, chairing Brown and Company’s Investment Committee.
Not quite a Colorado native, Martin moved to Colorado in 1995 with his family, attending Kent Denver School. While in high school, he quickly grew to love the mountains, Colorado sunshine, and the Denver Broncos. Martin graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and an MBA from Yale School of Management. Working for Goldman Sachs in San Francisco after business school, Martin left the firm to return to Colorado in 2011.
Martin and his wife Jessica live close to Denver with their two young children, Eleanor and Patrick. In his free time, Martin loves to run, ski and play ice hockey. Martin remains active in the Denver community, serving on the board of the Denver Botanic Gardens Endowment and the advisory board of Colorado Uplift
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO MARK R. BROWN, CFP®
Vonda joined the team in September, 1997, as Executive Assistant to Mark R. Brown. Her expertise in managing the business calendar as well as trafficking and coordinating all calls with the appropriate team member has earned her many accolades from the firm and clients alike. Vonda excels at client relations and is central to the business development activities of Mark’s Team.
Vonda has an Associate’s Degree from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma.
A team member of Brown and Company, Inc. since 2010, Sara manages the firms digital marketing, brand standards, communications and client event planning. Listed as one of Forbes Best Colleges in America, Sara graduated from Grand Valley State University with a dual degree in Finance and Marketing and a minor in sales.
Sara grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan and traveled west to Colorado in the fall of 2009. She enjoys staying active with her black lab, Kenzie, and in her spare time volunteers for the Rotary Club of Denver Southeast group and the American Cancer Society.
DANIELLE BERZ, CFP®
SR. CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGER + DIVORCE PLANNING COORDINATOR
Danielle joined Brown and Company, Inc. in April 2013 as a Client Relationship Manager. She began her career in July 2008 at UBS Financial Services, Inc., participating as a Financial Advisor Associate in a two-year training program that focused on addressing the needs of high and ultra-high net worth individuals. Upon completion of the program, Danielle teamed with an established advisor within UBS Financial Services, Inc. where she headed up the financial plans, asset allocations, investment due diligence and the coordination of the clients, their CPAs, and attorneys.
Danielle grew up in Golden, Colorado and lived there until she moved to attend school at the University of Washington, where she rowed on the NCAA Women’s Crew Team. She lived in Seattle for 9 years before moving back to Colorado. She enjoys watching football, snowboarding, eating out and hiking.
