Chrystal Vail

Planning and Marketing Associate

Chrystal Vail joined Brown and Company in January of 2020.  She is our Planning and Marketing Associate and is responsible for providing administrative and marketing support for the team, assisting the technology needs of the CFP® team, and greeting clients.

Chrystal was adopted by her aunt and uncle and grew up on the South Rim of The Grand Canyon. She started working at her family’s hotel at the age of thirteen and eventually moved to Denver to continue working in hospitality and to see what a big city had to offer. Chrystal worked for The Oxford Hotel and was a part of the opening team of The Crawford Hotel. That was an amazing and unique experience, however her love for food made her jump to the dark side of Event Planning, which is more or less what she has been doing for the past six years.

Q: Can you briefly describe your role at Brown and Company?
A: I am fortunate to have the opportunity to assist the team with a variety of tasks. They range anywhere from administrative duties, maintaining the database to assisting in company events.

Q: What is your favorite part about working for Brown and Company?
A:
Without a question, the team and clients. From day one, the entire team has been nothing but supportive and the amazing clients have also been very welcoming and friendly. The ones I have had the opportunity to speak with take time to chat with me and I love leaning more about them as well. It is evident that Mark treats employees and clients alike as an extension of his family.

Q: As a more recent hire yourself, what advice would you give to someone just joining the team?
A: Ask questions and offer suggestions if you have them. The team is very open to ideas and willing to take the time to explain whatever you don’t understand. Take advantage of their knowledge to continue to grow in your own role.

Now, we’ll switch gears to learn more what you like to do outside of the office.

Q: What would the title of your autobiography be?
A: It would be a toss up between, A Series of Awkward Moments or If Morgan Freeman Narrated my Life, It Would go a Little Something Like This…

Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: I am not sure where it came from, but my grandpa used to say, “Don’t worry about nothing, because nothing is going to be JUST fine.”

Q: What is the first concert you attended?
A: The Backstreet Boys in Phoenix, Arizona.

Q: Favorite travel spot?
A: Back home to the Grand Canyon. Aside from my family, I miss the starts and thunderstorms most over the Canyon. Seeing lightning light up the canyon in the middle of the night truly is something else.

Q: When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
A: If you know me then you know I am ALWAYS laughing. I love to make the most out of any situation and will always crack a joke when I can. As far as laughing until I cried, anytime I talk to my dad on the phone. Once we get started, there is not stopping us.
